Plot So Far
Jan. 4th, 2012 08:05 pmThe Nexus began as just a handful of people, struggling to comprehend how they had arrived there, why they had, and even what the Nexus was. These are questions that have yet to be answered, but that hasn't stopped them from surviving and even thriving.
It began as building permanent shelter, other than crude wooden structures. Buildings have occasionally appeared, much like driftwood washing ashore, but the majority of the Nexus has been build by the sweat and ingenuity of its residents. It started with Lamont Cranston paying for the construction
of a free apartment building for newcomers, but progressed rapidly to the point where, today, there is a small city with a working energy grip. The buildings are of a thousand styles, from a thousand times and places - a reflection of the polygot nature of the residents. There is even
an Academy - frequently damaged and demolished and rebuilt - for the younger members of the community.
Then came the Portal. An engineering marvel made from the combined genius of The Master, Doctor Otto Octavius, and Doctor Drakken, the Portal allowed people to transit back and forth to their home dimensions and times, allowing them access to their lives and events, as well as their resources. It even allowed people to visit other places and times, safely holding their recall devices so they could be pulled back if they needed.
There have been strange parties, villains attempting to defeat their opponents or conquer the city, even Death granting presents as the Hogfather. Many strange things happen in the Nexus. Including the arrival of the threat known as the Empire. While that threat has been at least temporarily contained, it remains a potent presence.
Recently, the Portal was sabotaged and destroyed, and it took the Master a considerable amount of time to rebuild it. It only recently has come back online, but travel between dimensions has opened up again.
And that is the story so far...
